Today’s Encouragement is Ephesians 2:4-5 “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, [5] even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ-by grace you have been saved.“
Rich in mercy-
Even when we were dead –
Ever consider that? We were, at one time, dead in our sinful nature. Dead to life, dead to joy, dead to hope… v 1-3 expounds even more on our deadness!
But God!
As true as our deadness was and is, God intervenes, Rich in Mercy, because of His Great Love… made us alive, resurrected with Christ.
Friends we are back from the Dead! We are resurrected! We once were dead but have been given a new life! How often people who face a ‘near-death experience’ are transformed into different people, often better or at least more well-intentioned…. Yet it often fades as old habits and old ‘friends’ return to draw us back into our self-centered ways.
Not so with Gods new life-gift! We are reborn as new Creations! Because of our worth? Not for a minute… but only because of Gods Rich Mercy and Love.
How will we use this new life we are given? How them will we live?
Father help us to consider how we live, to recognize the incredible gift You have granted us, to determine to live according to Your ways, Your wisdom, Your truth… as Your people set free from sin and death! Celebrating Your Glory, Mercy and Love!
