Today’s Encouragement is Lamentations 3:21-26 But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: [22] The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; [23] they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. [24] “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” [25] The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. [26] It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.
Therefore I have hope –
What a beautiful message. In the midst of grief suffering and great sorrow… when Hope seems a distant memory…. A proclamation from a desperate soul….
Even in my grey, dark, lonely and hope-less state… I will call this to mind, I will remember that the Love of the Lord is eternal, He has new mercy and grace for me every morning, He is faithful, even when I am not… Therefore I will choose to hope in Him. And He is good to those who hope in Him, who wait for him, who seek Him. I will wait quietly for Him.
The book of Lamentations is filled with sorry and grief over the suffering of God’s people, Israel, as they have rejected God and suffered greatly because they chose the world, idols, self, wealth, and pretty much anything other than the worship and honor of God the Father. (Sound familiar)? And into this morass of sorrow, a light shines in these few verses…. And for centuries since then, people, just like you and me have been immensely blessed by these words.
Father help us to recall Your Steadfast, Unchanging, Unlimited Love for us and to return to You, seek You, hope in You, and to wait for You.
