He is Patient

July 15, 2021

Today’s Encouragement is 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”

He is patient toward you –

In a rare moment of gardening interest many years ago, (which interest faded very quickly!) I planted a few bushes and trees around the house. Most died quickly, (hence my limited interest in continuing such folly…) but one bush sorta held on, by a hairs breadth, to existence.  It was planted just outside my office window.  I vaguely remembered it was a flowering bush, and had a very pretty picture when I ordered it, many years ago.  It never really did much.  At times I’d think – I should get rid of it, and at times, ‘maybe this year’ but generally an early Texas frost would rob it of any chance to bloom.  I think it’s been at least 10 years.

But now… this year, the Bridal Bloom Spirea (had to look up the name again!) has finally blossomed!  And it’s beautiful.  For more than ten years it has tried to reach its present glory… and finally it has.

For years it was non-descript, scrawny, unattractive.  Till now.

Friend, Is it possible that God knows what a beautiful work He is doing in your life, and that at some point in time He will see you as this bush, In full bloom?

He is patient!  He has time!

Trust Him! Rest in Him!

He who began a good work

  1. Beautiful flowers. Beautiful to know He’ll complete the work He started in me back in Anchorage:  9-years old, accepting Christ as my Savior, and hardly knowing what that meant!  Today I wrote on the experience of coming to the end of my addiction. I wasn’t wanted in Acapulco by my ‘drug buddies’ and got to choose:  life or death?  Back to Austin and those places of my old way of life, or go to Abilene, where I knew there was one person who loved me, no matter what, and who wanted the best for my life. That was your dad.  But he couldn’t break through my insanity.  He had to give up ‘Church’ as my answer. He put me in Jackie J’s care, and then began the slow road to recovery.  I’m forever grateful He started His good work in me so long ago, and that you continue to be a part of my life!  Love,CarolA  P. S.  Feel free to send this to your dad. He knows how much he means to me but it never hurts to refreshed someone’s memory of past good done, for Christ’s sake.

    1. What a wonderful perspective of time you have provided. Thank you for sharing your heart, your experience… I certainly will pass this on to Dad. He’ll be thrilled. So amazing how God has woven the tapestry of these lives through time, suffering, and joy. He needs no inspiration for His creativity!
