How fleeting I am

Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 39:4 “O LORD, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am!”

How fleeting I am –

A young life cut short by accident, a close friend gets a terminal diagnosis; such events cause us to recognize that the uncertainty of this life can be taken for granted.  And just so – David asks God to help him consider the brevity of ‘This Life’.

My friends God has opened the door, for you and me, to Eternal Life.  This life is but a moment in our eternity.  And it is filled with moments of joy and of pain, troubles and blessings, and many unanswered questions.  What we will be, what we will become, what Eternal Life will hold for us, we know only a glimpse or two… and yet, we were created for That eternity, That ‘true life’!   And for this reason, our souls are not totally ‘at home’ in this life… for we were created for Eternal life with Him…

Lord help us, as David prayed, to know how short and fleeting this earthly life is.  Help us to recognize that our eternity with you is where we belong, where our True Life really is.

This is what heaven means to me
