Heaven cannot contain Him

Today’s Encouragement is 2 Chronicles 2:5-6 “The house that I am to build will be great, for our God is greater than all gods. [6] But who is able to build him a house, since heaven, even highest heaven, cannot contain him? Who am I to build a house for him, except as a place to make offerings before him?”

Heaven cannot contain Him –

Solomon built the first temple in Jerusalem dedicated to God, the God of Israel.  He recognized and acknowledged even then that no place, not even the highest heaven, could contain God.

And Jesus said his body was the temple of God. John 2:19-21 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” [20] The Jews then said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?” [21] But he was speaking about the temple of his body.

Finally, Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? [17] If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.

My friends, we are, through Christ – the temple of God – collectively, individually, gladly or reluctantly… You Are That Temple!

Kinda blows your mind, doesn’t it?  Certainly, the highest heavens cannot contain Him. We can’t ‘contain’ Him.  But God can still – Abide – within us, and He does!  Just as the personality, character, influence, and idiosyncrasies of our earthly father and mother permeate our own lives and character… so does God’s nature… influence our own.  He Lives In Us.  This isn’t just a place He just goes to for a meal and a nap… No, it’s a place that knows Him… fits Him… welcomes Him…. we are His Home, His Temple.

Lord may we delight in Your presence coming to rest in us, coming home to us. We are Your children, Father.  We long to know Your presence within our lives.

Abide with Me

    1. Yes His Word is filled with deep thoughts, deep truths my brother. It’s always a joy to discover them! And so amazing that, one person will see something in a particular passage, and another will see something else entirely.. and both will be God’s word to each of them, for their particular need at that time! How amazing is He!!!
