Not ashamed

Today’s Encouragement is Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Not ashamed –

Before I fully surrendered to Christ, I remember (as if it was someone else, not me) being with a group of boys, acting tough, cussing, and generally acting – well ‘shamefully.’ (I’d rather not recall any details, thank You Lord for forgetfulness!)

What I do recall is this – I was ashamed of being a Christian, too ashamed or embarrassed to admit any faith in Him, too cowardly to state “I believe in Jesus!”  So, I just joined in, pretending to be tough like them… while the Holy Spirit whispered gently in His still small voice (“Remember Rick, you belong to me.”)

I was ashamed of Him then…

This same shame has occasionally come upon me since my salvation, but thank God is it rare.  I have since prayed for many years; Lord help me be unashamed of the Gospel… “For I am not ashamed of the gospel…”

Thank You Lord for the gift of being unashamed of You, Your Good News, Your Love, Mercy and Grace for all who will receive.  Help us to be quick to give an account of the faith we possess.

No Way, we are not ashamed
