I fell at His feet

Today’s Encouragement is Revelation 1:13–18 “and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. 14 The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, 15 his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength. 17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.”

I fell at His feet –

This description, by John in Revelation, of the glorified Christ, the resurrected, eternally-living King of Kings… our brother and friend, Jesus… is truly overwhelming.  It was overwhelming to John.  He did his best to write in words what he saw, but words fall so far short of reality.  This man, who knew Jesus very well on earth, walked and talked with Him… when he saw Jesus as He now is… John fell at Jesus’ feet – as though he was dead (v17).

If this encounter had that effect on John, the disciple whom Jesus loved, friend and companion of Jesus, the one whom Jesus chose to adopt and care for his own mother Mary… this John…. fell at His feet, there is something immeasurably powerful and awesome in the presence, the image, the person of the resurrected Jesus.

Read it again with me slowly.  Allow this image of The Glorified Son of God, our Christ, to come to life, to appear, in your mind and your spirit.

Can you envision Him?  Radiant!  Brilliant!  Brighter than the sun!  His voice like a waterfall of thunder!

This my friends is our Jesus, The Lord of Lords.   And once we see Him, there truly is nothing else… nothing else matters… only Jesus.

(please listen to this wonderful song!)

Never be the Same

      1. We would all fall like dead men at the sight of an holy angel how much more Jesus in his glory.

      2. Yessir! I’m so grateful we have the ‘picture’ of Him, and of course, words can’t do Him justice… but what an amazing, unbelievably wonderous image this is of Him. We have all these paintings, artwork, drawings of what people think he looked like when He was here on earth… what about now? Now He is ‘Glorified’ and even that word falls far short… it’s amazing to think about isn’t it?

      3. No artist can capture it, there was a guy Howard Storm, an artist who had a near death experience , he had some good art of Jesus but you know not like the real thing no one can do or explain it

      4. Exactly. But I think it’s helpful for us to consider still. What others think He might look like. Somehow, I think, it seems… our own, individual image of Him… from our ‘imag-ination’ just might be closer than we think… is it possible?

  1. I love these scriptures. I think of John leaning on Jesus chest and thinking of Him as a man. When he turned to the Jesus described here he saw Him as God Almighty that He was truly God. If it took John to his knees what will it do to us when we see Him as He is now.
