Rejoice – Always

February 20, 2021

Today’s Encouragement is Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.

Rejoice – Always –

There are certainly times we don’t feel like rejoicing in this life.  Troubles and trials come, and struggles are real and often threaten to steal all our hope and all our joy.  So why would we be advised to ‘rejoice in the Lord always,’ he even repeats it for emphasis!  When we’re hurting from the wounds of a friend, the death of a loved one, the loss of our hopes and dreams…. This counsel seems almost cruel, and certainly impractical, if not downright foolish!

And it is! – when measured by the standards of this world.  The world hopes in what it sees, the circumstances around us, the tangible and concrete.

But God!  God is not limited by what we see, what we have at hand, or know about, or even (hear me know…) what we understand. In God’s kingdom, because He is Lord… there is always cause for rejoicing!  Our troubles and trials are ‘for a little while’ on this earth.  We can rejoice when we recognize Who He is, turn our eyes to Him, and consider His plans and purposes.

When our focus is on Him… we can always rejoice.  When we focus on ourselves, the troubles and struggles we all face daily… there’s no joy.  Instead, God’s way is – Look to Him… and Rejoice – Always!  He has overcome this earth, and He has provided that same victory for you and I!

I look to You
