Today’s Encouragement is Exodus 16:2-3 And the whole congregation of the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness, [3] and the people of Israel said to them, “Would that we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the meat pots and ate bread to the full, for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”
The whole congregation… grumbled –
Hungry and tired and interestingly, in the wilderness of Sin (v1), the people of God – just delivered from slavery, grumbled… against Moses and against God!
They complained bitterly about the lack of food. And God graciously responded with food. Notice that God did not provide the food before they began grumbling, but after. Do we conclude that God responds well to grumbling? Of course not, but He does respond to our need! Whether we grumble or patiently wait for Him to act… He will. It’s not our having just the right approach to God which results in our needs being met, but it is His Grace and Mercy, which responds to our need. He meets our needs because of His love, not because of our behavior.
Do we then, freely grumble knowing that God will provide because He is Good? Again, of course not! Some may choose to, but my friends, God only asks that we honor Him in exchange, in response to, His perfect provision of our needs.
Grumbling is expressed doubt, subdued fear, mistrust and it is destructive to the attributes of His redeemed children- faith, trust, patience and Love…
God’s Grace is sufficient still-
2 Corinthians 12:9 … “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”…
And He Will provide-
Philippians 4:19 And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
His grace is sufficient, and He will provide… Even when we grumble- That’s how Good Our God is!
How Great is our God
