I acknowledged

Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 32:3,5 For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long… [5] I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah

I acknowledged my sin – 

Friends, this short passage, like all of the truth in God’s Word… contains much wisdom.  Here David describes what occurred when he stubbornly refused to confess and acknowledge his sin before God.  What happened when he refused? …his bones wasted away as he groaned all day long…. Sin rots our soul.  When we hold on to our sin and try to justify our anger, self-pity, resentment, coveting others and other things… all sin… is cancerous… it eats away at the soul… wasting away even our very bones… 

But when he surrendered to God by offering contrite confession and acknowledged his sin (to God alone) and did not cover his sin with excuses… our wonderful God – forgave! 

Selah – [pause, and consider this]

We all sin, it’s part of who we are in this life.  But! – God forgives when we confess and acknowledge and no longer cover up our sin…. Because He is Merciful, because He knows us, Because Jesus died and rose again so that we can be forgiven and restored to a right relationship with our loving Father God.  

Lord help us to quickly acknowledge our sin, to rid our hearts and minds of the sin which will destroy us.  Help us to then rest in Your forgiveness, Your Grace.
