Today’s Encouragement is 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
Reach repentance-
God desires that all people should reach repentance.
Notice ‘all’ – and ‘reach’-
Christ died for all- but not all accept Him as Savior. And God desires all of us to reach repentance… some people will accept Him, and some will refuse Him. But God’s heart, is that ALL would embrace and accept the free Gift He’s offered us… the greatest gift of all – eternal life through Jesus.
And reach repentance- not ‘obtain’ or ‘choose’ or ‘experience’… but reach. There’s an implication of arriving, as in ‘reach your destination’. We reach repentance when we come to know and accept the perfect Grace of God – and recognize that our extreme sin-fulness is fully erased by His ultimate sin-lessness!
We reach repentance in a spiritual journey that we walk with God. This journey of faith leads to repentance, salvation, and His Throne.
I Repent
