Today’s Encouragement is, ”We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We are writing these things so that you may fully share our joy.” 1 John 1:3-4 NLT
Share Our Joy –
John explains that he is writing, “so that you may fully share our joy.” Is it possible that the entire New Testament could be so described? The message of Jesus is the Good News. And Good News is always an occasion for Joy!
God loves us. He sent His Son Jesus to save us. We receive that salvation by trusting Jesus. Because of this faith, we are given abundant life and eternal life. Nothing can ever separate us from the Love of God. What could possibly elicit more rejoicing?
Joy is rare in our world today; even the milder form of joy that we call happiness is hard to find. But here in this passage, we are invited to fully share in the complete Joy of the disciples.
Believers have every reason for Joy. We are forgiven, set free, ransomed from the bondage of sin. We can choose to rejoice and live Joyful lives, because of Jesus.
Finally, consider that John wrote these things – for the believers, for us! He wrote so you and I could fully share the joy he knew. As we read his letter, and all of the Good News, we can also experience this Joy!
Father, we admit that we don’t often consider how truly blessed we are. Help us see, open our minds and hearts to the true reality of sharing the Joy that You offer us through faith in Jesus.
