Today’s Encouragement is, “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever.” Psalm 136:1 NIV
His Love Endures Forever –
Modern worship music is often criticized for being repetitive, and often it’s true. But repetition is not always a bad thing. Nor is it a new idea. Repetition cements thoughts in our minds. Good thoughts or bad ones, positive or destructive, repetition is the necessary glue that establishes an idea in our hearts.
Psalm 136 is about 3000 years old, certainly not modern, and ends every proclamation about our God (26 of them) with the repeated, profound, and clear truth: His Love Endures Forever. No other psalm uses repetition as heavily.
His Love –
God’s Love is the central Truth of His existence. God is Love (1 John 4:8), and He created everything because of His Love. He provided Jesus to set us free from sin and give us eternal life, because of His Love (John 3:16).
Endures Forever – God’s Love doesn’t stop; it never grows stronger or weaker, never grows cold, and will endure, remain immovable, undimmed, and perfectly extended to us, for eternity.
So we can repeat this Truth. When we sing it, speak it, and memorize it, we allow God’s Truth to permeate our minds and hearts. And this renews our thinking and transforms us (Romans 12:2).
How can we thank You, Father, for Your unending Love for us? We honor You with our gratitude and our lives. Help us to love You and each other with Your perfect, unending Love.
(Please don’t miss the opportunity to worship Him with this song.)
So Great
