Today’s Encouragement is, “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.” Hebrews 11:1 NLT
The Evidence –
We typically understand evidence as the ‘cold hard facts.’ It is the dates, times, records, statements, and whatever establishes a fact; we then place our confidence, our faith, in those facts.
However, the word of God reveals that faith in God is itself this evidence, the reality of what we hope for. Our human thought is that we must see the evidence before we can hope or have faith.
If we saw a true miracle occur, that fact would be evidence: we witnessed the miraculous event, saw it ourselves, and thus we would know it to be true even when we “can’t believe our own eyes.” We then can have faith and believe.
But again, biblical faith is itself the evidence; it comes before sight, before the miracle, before the miracle’s visible fact.
The distinction is subtle but critical.
Biblical Truth says, “Faith shows the reality”; our worldly perspective is, “Facts show the reality, and when we see the facts clearly, we don’t need faith.”
As believers, we choose to believe in Jesus, “the champion who initiates and perfects our faith” Hebrews 12:2. We put our faith in Him first, and this Faith is the evidence of the unseen truth.
Thank you, Father, that one day we will see, experience, and know You. Until that day, strengthen and perfect our faith in You, Your Word, Your promises, and Your merciful Love.
