Today’s Encouragement is, “Timothy, I thank God for you-the God I serve with a clear conscience, just as my ancestors did. Night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. I long to see you again, for I remember your tears as we parted. And I will be filled with joy when we are together again. I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you.” 2 Timothy 1:3-5 NLT
I Remember You –
This is a picture of Christian love. Paul calls Timothy his dear son (v2). Notice the expression of this love in these first sentences of this letter. “I constantly remember you.” “I remember your tears.” “I remember your genuine faith.” “I long to see you again.”
Such expressions of sincere Christian love are rare in our world today. The concept of love has become so distorted, even perverted, that we often back away from any sincere expression of love for others.
Of course, we need to recognize our human frailties; we are fallen creatures, yet we are reborn. Remember God’s constant presence: it is His Love, flowing into us, then poured out to others (1 John 4:19). He is the Source of Love; God is Love (1 John 4:8).
So be wise, be alert, and be free to love the people around you; of course, your Christian brothers and sisters, but also others, especially “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40).
Is it possible that – To love others is even more fulfilling than being loved?
Father, help us to fully accept Your amazing Love, and then to allow it to overflow to the people around us.
