Today’s Encouragement is, “This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, ‘It is through faith that a righteous person has life.’” Romans 1:17 NLT
Through Faith –
From start to finish – by Faith. God makes us right with Him (righteous) by our faith in Jesus. And this righteousness leads to life, eternal and abundant.
We decide to believe, to have faith in Jesus, or to have doubt. No fence-sitting here. We either choose to embrace this faith, or we set faith aside while we fondle the doubts of our human logical intellect.
I knew a man who was a church-going Christian. He studied the Bible, prayed, and believed in Jesus Christ. However, he held onto a deadly doubt. He believed that because he still had sin in his own life, he might not be ‘truly saved.’ He even had Scripture to support his doubt. And here is the rub – he was miserable. He longed for the confident assurance of forgiveness and salvation which faith in Christ alone can bring, but his nagging doubt stole that assurance from him. In all our conversations, he clung to this doubt more fiercely than he clung to the grace and mercy of God.
This world, man’s intellect, reveres doubt. It says, “Only a fool doesn’t have any doubt.” In contrast, God says, “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.” Hebrews 11:1.
We choose – faith or doubt. One leads to life, the other to death.
Thank You, Father, for establishing faith as the doorway to eternal life. It is available to all who turn away from doubt and turn to Jesus alone.
