Today’s Encouragement is, “Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:7 NLT
Grow Strong –
The analogy of plants and trees and our Christian lives is frequently used in God’s word.
“But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.” Psalm 1:2-3
“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
Our roots are spiritual connections to Jesus, the Source of life. We draw our nourishment from Him. These roots of faith can grow deep, or remain shallow, we let them. Our choice to trust God, rely on Him, His truth and promises, extend our roots of faith deeper into Him, or not.
Each decision of faith over fear, trust over doubt, peace over anxiety, each step of faith we take extends and deepens our roots and we grow stronger in the truth. The deeper our roots in Him, the stronger our tree of truth. So that we can stand firm in the inevitable storms of this life.
Finally, in this deepened, firmly rooted faith – we will overflow with thankfulness. The fruit of a life deeply rooted in the truth is gratitude.
Thank You, Father, for blessing us with Your truth, and the opportunity to grow stronger in faith and the truth. May our hearts now overflow with thankfulness.
