Today’s Encouragement is, “For, ‘Who can know the LORD’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?’ But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2:16 NLT
The Mind of Christ –
Puzzling, isn’t it? The first sentence seems clear enough: we have no ability to instruct, advise, or direct God Himself; we can’t even begin to fathom the mind of God; His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). So how can we “have the mind of Christ”?
Is it possible that the difference between our Father God and Christ is only in Christ’s humanity, His human form? So the mind of Christ could be the human mind, which is fully aware, fully perfect, and filled with the Holy Spirit of God.
How then can we have this Mind? Christ Jesus’ mind? We’re told, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV) Is it possible that as we grow in faith, filled with His Spirit, our thoughts become more in line with Jesus’ thoughts? That is, we become more like Jesus, and our thinking lines up more with His. Is it possible?
Father God, we admit we don’t fully understand this. We know that we don’t live like, act like, or think like our Lord Jesus. Yet, Father, we long to. We long to have the mind of Christ; please show us, Lord. Show us that, despite our human thoughts, Your mind, through the Holy Spirit, lives within us.
