Do Everything –
Truths That Transform: Jesus gives us strength to do anything and everything.
There is also another verse which sheds more light on this topic: “For apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5b NLT). When these are considered together, then even more Truth becomes clear.
Everything we humans do- building a monument, name, brand, career, or even a home and family- nothing is of any lasting value without Jesus. But with Him, through Christ, we can do everything. Over time, all of our accomplishments, our legacy, our name will become dust. It may last a century or more, but ultimately we, all humans, and all that we do, become dust. (Psalm 103:14)
But! When Jesus lives within us, through Him, we can do everything. He gives us strength. Paul wrote, “I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.” (v12)
And then in v13, he reveals the source of his strength. I can do everything through Christ.
Whatever situation we are in- illness, grief, stress, fear, pain, hunger- we need Jesus. He alone is the source of our strength. The choice is clear, with Him, everything; without Him, nothing.
Thank You, Father, for Jesus, who gives us strength. Help us to realize how completely dependent we are on Him for everything.
