Today’s Encouragement is, “Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:11-12 NLT
Able To Stand Firm –
Some of the wonderful truths revealed in the Bible resonate deeply within us, like the wonderful Love of God. Other principles, like this one, are shocking. They seem foreign, difficult to grasp and accept.
Yet our faith is strengthened when we accept His Truth, even when our human capacity for understanding is exceeded.
It sounds like science fiction, doesn’t it? The unseen world, evil spirits in heavenly places? Most of us choose to skim over such uncomfortable and challenging thoughts. Yet it is clear, not intended to frighten or harm us, but to enlighten us.
God’s word often shines the Light of Truth into dark places.
There is a devil, our enemy; there is an unseen world, and heavenly places, and this world we inhabit is dark. And unseen powers are working together to advance the strategies of our enemy.
But we have God’s armor (Ephesians 6:13-18). And as we put on this armor, we are then protected and “able to stand firm against all the strategies of the devil.”
Thank You, Father, for revealing Truth to us, even this very uncomfortable truth. Thank You for the spiritual armor You have already made available to us. Help us focus on the spiritual forces at work behind our earthly enemy and, protected by Your armor, to stand firm against the darkness.
