Today’s Encouragement is, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Training In Righteousness –
Training is ongoing. Consider healthy individuals who eat well and exercise regularly. They live a healthy lifestyle, but that isn’t necessarily training. Training is more intense, demanding, and yields different results.
Someone who is training is consistently pushing their limits, aiming for more, faster, and stronger. They experience the pain that comes with that effort, “no pain, no gain.”
We all prefer to avoid pain when possible, understandably. However, this language suggests a struggle, a diligent effort toward a goal, “training in righteousness.”
This training leads to our completion -not perfection, but a mature, complete child of God -“equipped for every good work.”
This verse explains that all Scripture is God-breathed and useful for many purposes, including this training. Our exercise and workout are in God’s Word. All of His Word is useful for us!
Ultimately, when an athlete reaches their full or peak potential, they continue training to maintain their excellence; they never stop improving.
Thank You, Father, that we are always training, learning, growing, and developing as Your people. Help us to persevere in training to reach our completeness – “equipped for every good work.”
