Today’s Encouragement is, “The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced.” Matthew 13:22 NLT
Worries Of This Life –
Worry, anxiety, and fear (all are the same root issue) are obstacles to our faith.
The screaming voices of these ordinary yet destructive powers can even drown out the voice of God; they can crowd out, silence, and even smother His Truth.
We choose what we listen to, what we allow ourselves to think, and what we ultimately choose to believe. Those who believe that it is wise to worry or believe they cannot control themselves are living under the lies of our enemy.
Our modern society is infected with worry and anxiety. Almost 20% of Americans experience an anxiety disorder in a given year, and 30% will have an anxiety disorder at some point in their lives.
We say, “If you aren’t worried about… then you just don’t understand!” We have come to equate worry and anxiety with maturity and responsible adulthood.
It’s tragic to see a person who has been presented with the Truth of God’s Love, power, and grace, but who will not let go of the often lifelong habit of anxiety.
Faith in Jesus to save us, trusting God to care, provide, and help us, is our ‘antianxiety medication.’
So, pray.
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.” Philippians 4:6a NLT
Father, thank You for the freedom from worry, fear and anxiety that You have provided for Your people. Help us to look to You, to pray, and choose to trust You to help us in every circumstance.
