Today’s Encouragement is, “Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?” Romans 2:4 NLT
His Kindness –
We are forgiven and made new. Our sin, forgotten. We are clean, pure, and even holy, all by the grace of God provided through our faith in Jesus Christ. This is His Kindness extended to us.
Now our response to Him is the determining factor. That is, He extends His perfect Love to us in kindness, and we choose how to respond.
Some of us, like nine of the ten lepers whom Jesus healed, will continue to go our own way, not even returning to express our gratitude. We can be among the few, like the one who returned to say, “Thank You”. (Luke 17:12-18).
Jesus was extremely kind to all ten, all were healed, but only one turned – from sin – and returned to thank Him.
Our right response to God’s undeserved kindness is turning away from our sins and turning to Him in gratitude. We do nothing perfectly, but His kindness, mercy, and cleansing are always perfect.
His kindness is not permission to continue to sin, it is “intended to turn you from sin.” We all sin. Jesus cleanses us. God forgives and forgets. In gratitude, we choose to turn to Him and away from our sin.
Father, we recognize Your kindness to us. You are always kind, patient, and tolerant with us. Help us to respond appropriately, by turning from our sin, our own plans and ways, and turning to You in humble gratitude.
Your Kindness
