Today’s Encouragement is, [God said] “I—yes, I alone—will blot out your sins for my own sake and will never think of them again.” Isaiah 43:25 NLT
Blot Out –
In the days of ink and papyrus, erasers didn’t exist, so blotting, completely covering with ink, was the only way to remove, erase, or cover the previously written words.
God says here that He, Himself, blots out, covers, erases, and removes our sins… for His own sake! For His sake?
So that He doesn’t hold anything against us! And He will never think of our sins again!
Is it possible that… God has perfectly erased (blotted out) and completely forgotten our sins (He said so), and yet we choose to still hang onto them? Beating ourselves up, living in shame, guilt and condemnation over the very things that God Himself has erased and blotted out. The very things that God Himself does not remember, yet, we are still reliving, regretting, and even re-sinning?
As believers, we are perfectly cleansed by His Grace, through the blood of Jesus Christ, so that we can live in complete freedom from all our past, present, and future sins.
One final thought: our every sin is blotted out, not with ink, but with the perfect, cleansing blood of Jesus (1 John 1:7). His blood is forever covering our sin, erasing it perfectly, and granting us eternal freedom from any and all condemnation. (Romans 8:1)
Father, thank You for blotting out our sins and not remembering them. Help us to live in this true freedom, with all sin forgiven, blotted out, and forgotten by You… and also by us, your forgiven children.
Oh The Blood
