Today’s Encouragement is, “Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you. Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning, I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.” Psalm 5:2-3 NLT
Wait Expectantly –
We tend to think of Biblical heroes like King David as, well, superheroes, as if they were differently wired from you and me. We put them in a special category and silently acknowledge that we are far inferior to them. Such thinking ignores the fact that these great men and women all suffered the same condition we do. Humanity.
Here’s a poignant example:
David’s prayer, in bite-sized pieces.
Listen – asking God to hear him, pleading for God’s attention.
Cry for help – no position of his own authority, but humbly crying out for God’s help.
No one but You – acknowledging that no one else can help, and that there is no other God.
Each morning – first thing, daily, regularly, persistently.
Bring my requests – every need, issue, struggle, concern, fear, problem, hope, dream, can be brought to God as a request. When we bring something or someone to Him, we can also leave it with Him! Entrust our request, whatever it may be, to the One who can do all things, and who loves us immeasurably!
Wait – the most challenging step. Waiting in faith, trusting Him to work all things for our good (Romans 8:28).
Expectantly – in faith, confident, hopeful, and trusting in God’s wisdom, grace, and perfect Love.
Thank You, our loving and all-powerful Father God, that we can bring You our requests and burdens in expectant trust, and then rest in Your perfect peace, knowing that You hear us and love us.
