Today’s Encouragement is, “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 NLT
All your needs –
Sometimes a verse, a sentence, or a thought can stand alone. It is a truth with no need for further explanation. And yet, almost always, we learn more about this truth, clarify the intent, and grow in our spiritual understanding as we consider the message’s context.
The preceding verse explains, “At the moment, I have all I need-and more! I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me with Epaphroditus. They are a sweet-smelling sacrifice, acceptable and pleasing to God.” Philippians 4:18 NLT
The Philippian church had just made a generous gift to him, which Paul described as pleasing to God. And Paul responds: “God will supply all your needs.”
My friends, God is pleased when we are genuinely generous to others. Why? Is it possible that our generosity reflects our understanding of His generosity towards us? We can give generously because He has already given so generously to us first. In the same manner as His Love, “We love each other because he loved us first.” 1 John 4:19 NLT.
When we recognize how God has taken care of us, how richly we are blessed, we become genuinely grateful, and giving becomes our privilege, our opportunity to express sincere gratitude for all He has done for us.
Father God, please grant us the faith to give generously, with gratitude in our hearts, because we realize that You have already given so generously to us, and because we know that You will supply all our needs.
