and Prayed

Today’s Encouragement is, “About that time Hezekiah became deathly ill, and the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to visit him. He gave the king this message: ‘This is what the LORD says: ‘Set your affairs in order, for you are going to die. You will not recover from this illness.’ When Hezekiah heard this, he turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD.” Isaiah 38:1-2 NLT

And Prayed –

King Hezekiah was deathly ill.
The prophet Isaiah brought this dire message from God- “You are going to die!”

The king responded, in his severe illness, not by arguing with the prophet of God, trying to bargain with Him, nor did he surrender to this prophecy! He prayed!

He humbly prayed for mercy, and God spared his life. (V-6)

No matter our circumstances, the diagnosis we face, or the gravity of our reality. In relationship, career, health, and especially our spiritual journey, prayer is always, always the right response!

We do not know how God will respond, but we can know that He will! Because He cares for us, He hears, and He loves us! His response to our prayer is always perfect!

Is it possible, my friend, that the absolute best that we can ever do for ourselves or for another person… is to pray? Isn’t prayer better than our advice, money, or physical help? To appeal, on their behalf, to the Father, who can do anything, who knows exactly what is most beneficial, and knows the perfect timing and manner of responding… what could be better?

Thank You, Father, for giving us this immeasurable gift of prayer! Help us to pray gratefully, persistently, thankfully, for everything, and without ceasing!
We stand in awe of You!
