Today’s Engagement is, “Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? [25] Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 7:24-25a NLT
The Answer Is –
There is profound truth in this passage.
Paul admits he is a miserable person. He was a murderer and killed many Christians because of their faith. He was saved dramatically and miraculously by Jesus, who appeared to him personally. At this time, as he wrote these words, he was recognized as one of the few and greatest leaders of Jesus’ followers!
Paul confesses his sinfulness. He cries out and doesn’t hide or excuse it; he confesses his “life that is dominated by sin and death.”
Although he is clearly a mature believer in Jesus, he clearly still struggles with his sinful nature!
He asks, “Who will free me from this?” Then he answers his own question, “Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord!
Friend, we will struggle with sin as long as we live on this earth. As we grow in faith, our love for sin will grow weaker, and our love for God will grow stronger. But the human sinful nature will always be present, trying to destroy us! Only Jesus can free us! And He will! And He already has! We just need to turn to Him in our weakness, in times of temptation, when we cannot resist any longer, and are utterly unable to do anything else -and cry out as Peter did, “Lord, save me!” (Matthew 14:30) He Will!
Thank You, Father for Jesus, who has already has and ever will, save us!!!
