Daily Bread

Today’s Encouragement is, “Give us each day our daily bread.” Luke 11:3 ESV

Daily Bread –

Our bodies will break down without a consistent intake of food and water to continue functioning. Of course, we know this.

Now, given this undeniable fact, is it possible that our spiritual nature requires similar, consistent, significant nourishment also?

Consider:
God fed His people daily in the wilderness for 40 years (Exodus 16:35).
Jesus said, He is the Bread of life; eat this bread, and we will never die (John 6:51).
Jesus also said, The living water that I give will become a well that will never dry (John 4:14).

My friend, spiritual nourishment is just as essential as physical nourishment! And this is especially true for those who “hunger and thirst after righteousness” (Matthew 5:6)! (Did you get that?)

We nourish, feed, and water this spiritual nature by what we read, think, listen to, and believe. Reading God’s word, listening to Christian music, godly biblical sermons, personal and corporate worship, and especially two-way prayer (speaking to and listening to God) are some of the best ways to nourish our spiritual nature.

Think of the time we invest in shopping, cooking, eating, and cleaning up to nourish our bodies. Our Spirit determines our eternal health! Which deserves the most attention?

Our Father, thank You for giving us our daily bread, both the food and the spiritual nourishment we need. Help us to partake wisely as You provide, knowing that, in Your immeasurable Love, You provide perfectly for every need of Your dearly loved people.
