Today’s Encouragement is, “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT
A New Life –
We say – “Yes, I believe that. But” and add something like this… “I’m not always completely sure.” “I’m not a very good Christian.” “I still have doubts, and sometimes I don’t really believe everything the Bible says.” “I’m not sure that applies to me.” “I prayed and prayed, but God didn’t answer me, so how can I believe?” Or millions of other disqualifying words.
May I argue with you for a moment?
We seem to want to disqualify ourselves for God’s Grace and goodness for us! As if our “But” can negate God’s Word! He said it! It’s His perfect plan for you and me! Are we going to accept it… or try to argue against it, against Him?
When did “But” become an appropriate response or qualifier to the words of Almighty God? He went through a lot of trouble (Jesus’ pain and agony, which we can’t even imagine) to get His Word and Message to us.
Maybe we would be wise to:
- just believe Him,
- take Him at His Word, and
- trust whatever He says.
Like it or not, understand it or not, agree or not, experience it or not, feel it or not, we can choose, by Faith alone – to believe Him!
Our beliefs are always based on our choices…
Father God, we ask You to help us know and understand that Your Word is Truth, and we have a “new life” because we believe in Jesus.
I Believe
Charity Gayle
