They Who Wait

Today’s Encouragement is, “But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”  Isaiah 40:31 ESV

They who wait –

We just don’t like to wait—on anything!  We want fast food, convenience stores, and instant responses to our texts… we are obsessed with NOW!

God’s ways are not our ways… (Isaiah 55:8) and His timeframe is not ours.  He deals in all aspects of time, moments, years, and millennia… He is unlimited by time; He created it and is above all aspects of time.  Yet, we are too often obsessed with time!  We consider our days and plan our schedules; we are obsessed with time! And we don’t want to wait! We fight against His wisdom; He says – “Wait.”

We wait for the Lord by praying for our needs and desires and then yielding to ‘not my will but Yours be done, Lord.’  We wait by reading His Word and resting in His Truth and His Promises, even when we don’t understand or see any evidence of His response or action.  We wait for our hopes, our dreams, His promises, His Power to be displayed… for so much, my friends… We Wait!

And His promise to those who wait for Him? –  By waiting, our strength is renewed. As if an eagle, we will rise, run, walk, and not get tired.

Now, we can get discouraged by waiting, can’t we?  “When Lord will You do something!  When will You answer my prayer?”  And He replies… “Wait.”

Lord, Help us to wait on You, to trust Your timing and Your wisdom, as we pray in Jesus’ Name.
