My Eyes are Fixed

Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 141:8 NIV But my eyes are fixed on you, Sovereign LORD; in you I take refuge-do not give me over to death.

My eyes are fixed on You –

I find that I often need to ask myself… “What are you looking at?”

You see I have a tendency, as many of you might also, to focus on the issues, circumstances, problems, the ‘realities’ which are immediately surrounding me. The immediate issues we are facing… These are REAL!  These are often Overwhelming! These are even at times Oppressive!  The struggles of this life can mount up and threaten to destroy us! 

BUT – we serve the God who created All Things!  We are His own children, members of His Royal family…. And He has given us a way to be more than conquerors (Rom 8:37) over all of this!  

Friends, we NEED to Look to Jesus! Fix our eyes on Him, taking our focus away from this world and its troubles (which are REAL) and looking to HIM (Heb 12:2); gazing upon Him (Psalm 27:4).

As the beautiful song goes, ‘TURN YOUR EYES upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face.  AND THE THINGS OF THIS WORLD WILL GROW STRANGLY DIM… in the light of His Glory and Grace.

What are you looking at?  My Friends, Jesus is what/whom we need to be looking at, focused on, gazing upon, trusting in, depending upon!  All our troubles (no matter how great they may seem now) are not worth comparing…to the Glory set before us (Rom 8:18)

Father God, help us, whenever we get discouraged, overwhelmed, defeated, to remember to lift our eyes to Jesus and recognize that this world and its cares are nothing compared to Him.
