Today’s Encouragement is 2 Chronicles 6:18 NLT “But will God really live on earth among people? Why, even the highest heavens cannot contain you. How much less this Temple I have built!”
Really live on earth –
As Solomon dedicated the Temple to God centuries ago, he recognized that God is too great to be limited to one location, even the beautiful Temple. And he asks this question… will You really live on earth among people?
Jesus certainly did just that – many centuries later! And just in case you feel like you missed out, missed those three years in ancient Israel, only a moment in time – which transformed eternity… when God really did ‘live on earth among people’… consider Jesus’ words in His final talk with His disciples… John 16:7 NLT ‘But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate [Holy Spirit] won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.’
“It is best for you”!? “That I [Jesus] go away”!? What??? How can that be good?
Friends- is it possible that… WE are MORE blessed now, (Jesus said, “It is BEST”!) to have the Holy Spirit within us, than the disciples who walked and talked with Jesus!? Is it possible? Read John 16:7 one more time… Seems clear that this is exactly what Jesus said!
Father, help us to recognize that: just as Your Glory filled the temple of Solomon, just as Jesus lived on Earth, now, in this day, Your Holy Spirit lives within each believer. Thank You Father that You have given us Your Best, and that You really do, still today, “live on earth among people”!!
