Today’s Encouragement is Mark 6:5-6a NLT And because of their unbelief, he couldn’t do any miracles among them except to place his hands on a few sick people and heal them. [6] And he was amazed at their unbelief.
Little faith –
Matthew 8:26 NLT Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm.
Matthew 15:28 NLT “Dear woman,” Jesus said to her, “your faith is great. Your request is granted.” And her daughter was instantly healed.
Notice the difference in Faith in these three? No faith, little faith, and great faith.
No faith is unbelief, refusing to believe… a choice. And in this absence of faith, Jesus will do little. A hard teaching… but, because He is unlimited in power it must be His choice, to limit His miraculous power to a few healings. (which is actually – extremely miraculous!) Note also, this was among His own friends and neighbors.
Little faith, describing His own disciples, might be termed an immature faith. Even among the disciples there was a variance of faith, Judas clearly had none, and Peter professed “You are the Messiah!”
Great faith, oh to be granted such a gift!! This faith resulted in ‘instantly healed’. And this great faith was from a Gentile woman!
Is it possible my friends, that once we choose to believe in Jesus, we’ve moved from unbelief to little faith; then, by prayer, choosing to trust, and conscious, growing acceptance of God’s will… we too, can move from little faith to Great Faith?
Oh me of little faith
