Overlooking wrongs

Today’s Encouragement is Proverbs 19:11 NLT Sensible people control their temper; they earn respect by overlooking wrongs.

Overlooking wrongs-

There seems to be a great shortage of sensible people these days.

Sensible.  Wouldn’t we all want to be considered as sensible people?  It makes you think, cool, calm, and collected, not easily rattled or angry!

Yet today’s culture seems to honor, in a way, the hurt feelings, anger, sulking, poor pitiful me behavior of spoiled children… and adults. How many times a day to you hear someone say “I am Offended by… (you name it!)”  We are all so easily offended by each other… our words, our pronouns, our looks, our thoughts!… It’s getting, no, it has already become, ridiculous!  And it seems there are very few Sensible people….

God’s Wisdom, from the Book He provided for us, says… Sensible people control their anger (and all emotions) and they become respected when they Overlook Wrongs…

The Wrong is done… some harm has come, physical, financial, emotional, mental, work-related, personal… the Wrong is real!… and yet, Sensible People, wise, calm, thinking, people… overlook the wrong!  Most of us want to fight!  “I’ll show YOU!” We seethe with anger desiring revenge!… but… wait… James 1:20 (NLT) Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.

Instead… Overlook it!  Choose God’s way over our human emotional response… this will allow you to be free from all Offenses!

Father God, help us, for we always need Your help in everything, to overlook wrongs.  It seems these wrongs are everywhere, and we long to be Your people, free from the control of our emotions, free to choose to honor You with all our lives.

Forgiveness
