Today’s Encouragement is 1 John 1:5 (NLT) This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.
God is Light –
What happens when we are in the darkness? We stumble, bump into things, each other, we fall down, and generally get lost… When were you last in deep physical darkness? We grope for something to anchor us, to obtain our bearings, to orient us to the world around us… and any tiny glimmer of light, no matter how far away from us… brings hope, it draws us to it, we naturally Seek it… just a tiny light and we have direction, a purpose, a renewed strength. If it were extinguished, we’d be lost again, in the darkness.
John describes God here as Light, and in 4:16 as Love. He personifies God as Light and Love. God is the source of both, and indeed, all of Life! And as the Source, He provides to us what we need. and we need the Light He provides.
As we walk in His Light… we see clearly, we do not stumble, we do not grope for an anchor, we are aware of our circumstances and situation, our eyes are open and functioning.
Father God thank You for being our Light, allowing us to see, to learn, and to move toward You!
