Today’s Encouragement is Philippians 2:20-21 NLT I have no one else like Timothy, who genuinely cares about your welfare. [21] All the others care only for themselves and not for what matters to Jesus Christ.
What matters-
Paul honors Timothy as being unique because he cares about what matters to Jesus, unlike all the others – who care only for themselves.
Ever think about that? What it is that matters to Jesus? Paul did, and Timothy also did, he cared about the welfare of the church in Philippi, the people their spiritual condition and growth… he cared about what matters to Jesus.
So, in your world, your sphere of influence, what is it that matters to Jesus? Is it possible that His focus hasn’t changed? That the thing that matters to Jesus… is still, always will be… the spiritual well-being of people… their souls.
Friends, there is an unlimited number of other things to be concerned about, to focus our attention on – making a living, paying bills, hobbies, raising kids, friends, enemies, even church activities… but what is it that Truly Matters to Jesus? Note, it’s not about what matters to you and me, but What matters to Him!
If we believe the biblical truth that, this life is just a mist, that we have an eternal soul, that we can be born again, that God will dwell within us through His Holy Spirit, that God loves all people, that He has called us to be free, then perhaps we can see – just a glimpse of – What Matters to Jesus.
Father, help us to see and focus on What Matters to Jesus. We ask in His name.
If all I had was Christ
