Eternal Comfort

Today’s Encouragement is 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 NLV “Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.”

Eternal comfort –

Isn’t it interesting how the writer puts this prayer? He states that God loved us and by His grace – gave us these gifts!  Then He prays that God will strengthen and encourage our hearts and in every good thing we do and say.  These gifts are eternal comfort and wonderful hope!  Friends, these blessings are Already! given to us because of His love and by His grace.

So, consider what blessings we have received, Already!  Not someday in some uncertain future, but an accomplished act… Eternal Comfort and Encouragement! And Wonderful Hope!  Already ours?

“But”, we admit, “I often don’t feel comforted, encouraged, or hopeful… much less eternally… so can this be true?”  Friends, our true standing is from God and is not limited by how we feel or what we think or any other limitation.  We are adopted sons and daughters of the Living God, given amazing blessings like Eternal Comfort and Wonderful Hope!   Whether we fully recognize it or not, whether we act upon our position as His children or not, doesn’t change the reality.  

Just as if we were financially broke, but suddenly inherited a million dollars which is in a bank account in our name.  If we never are told about it, never believe it, never draw upon it, never use it… we remain impoverished, we Feel poor… but in our minds only… in Reality – we are rich.  We just don’t believe or ‘feel’ it, so it isn’t real to us.  In the same way, we are blessed unimaginably as the sons and daughters of the Living God, in reality, whether we feel like it or not!

 Eternal comfort and Wonderful Hope… are just the tip of the iceberg.

Lord Open our eyes, hearts, and minds to the incredible, even limitless blessings we have from You.  Help us to believe and rejoice in Your amazing kindness and generosity.  Help us to accept Eternal Comfort and Wonderful Hope today, Your gifts to your beloved Children.  Please Encourage our hearts Lord and Strengthen us for every good thing we do and say!
