Today’s Encouragement is John 18:36 NLT Jesus answered, “My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom. If it were, my followers would fight to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish leaders. But my Kingdom is not of this world.”
Not of this world-
Jesus was speaking to Pilate, who was interrogating Him after His arrest. And the question was, “Are You the King of the Jews?”
The Kingdom of Jesus, He explains here… “is not of this world.” We see disease, oppression, hatred, division (even in these not-so-United States…) There is some, but precious little, that is truly good in this world…
Bear with me please…. This world is fallen, diseased, corrupt with sin, and it is ultimately passing away (1 Cor 7:31). Our lives here are difficult, and we suffer trials of many kinds (James 1:2). We end our short span of 70-80 years on this planet and then … by faith in Christ alone, we enter Eternity, Paradise (Luke 23:43) with Him as King!
Our Hope is Jesus, our King, and His Kingdom which is a spiritual Kingdom, a realm where He is clearly recognized and honored as The King of Kings and Lord of Lords! Our Hope, our Home, is… Not of this world.
Too often we fall into the trap of bemoaning (a very descriptive word) the bad things in this world. Some foolishly blame God for the fallen nature of humanity! It is We who have made a mess of it my friends! Our Sin has caused the pain, suffering, and decay of this world! Jesus had provided for us another realm, another home, another Kingdom… where He reigns in righteousness and justice prevails! And His kingdom is our Home where we will one day rest and reign with Him (Rom 5:17)!
Father help us to fix our hopes on Your Kingdom where Jesus reigns, and to live under Your Kingdoms rule here on this earth as well.
The Kingdom of God
