Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 146:3-5 NLT Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there. [4] When they breathe their last, they return to the earth, and all their plans die with them. [5] But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the LORD their God.
Whose hope is in the Lord –
Most of us can confirm the truth in these words, no man is going to save us, to help us… we’ve all experienced disappointment when we trusted in another person, when we placed our hope in parents, brothers and sisters, friends, bosses, co-workers, teachers, pastors, doctors and well… everyone. My friends, we humans have a very limited ability to truly care and give to one another. Even believers, whose best efforts are to help others, will reach a point where they cannot help.
This is not the self-reliant isolationists advice “never trust anyone”, but rather (reread v3), this is God’s Wisdom, “Don’t put your confidence” in any person.
Jesus is the only person, still living today who is worthy of our Trust and our Hope.
He is our helper; He is our Hope. We can be joyful because Jesus is our Helper and our Hope.
Father God may we always keep our eyes, our hope, our trust, fixed upon You Alone.
