Had enough

Today’s Encouragement is 1 Kings 19:4 NLT Then he [Elijah] went on alone into the wilderness, traveling all day. He sat down under a solitary broom tree and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, LORD,” he said. “Take my life, for I am no better than my ancestors who have already died.”

Had enough-

We all run dry at times, overloaded with busyness, striving to serve God well, or striving to serve ourselves, or anything else!  It’s still striving and its still exhausting work!

Elijah had just confronted the prophets of Baal and defeated them with an astounding display of God’s power and Elijah’s faith! (See 1 Kings 18)

Whatever the cause, we all experience the ‘wilderness moment’, when despite our best efforts, all we have done and could possibly do… is not enough to change this situation, and we realize we are powerless, that our cup is empty.

Friends, is it possible that this is exactly where God wants us?  ‘At the end of ourselves’… for when we are spent, we do not get in His way!  He is then free to act on our behalf!

It is good to rest in His presence my friend, to breathe deeply and calm your mind and spirit, and trust in His work, not our own!

Father help us to do whatever You have called us to do, and then to rest in the assurance that You will bring about Your Will in our situation, and also, please strengthen us to return to Your work.
