Today’s Encouragement is John 16:12-13a NLT “[Jesus said,] There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now. [13] When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth…”
So much more –
This rather shocked me. Jesus still had more to say? He said this to His disciples as He was about to be arrested. He didn’t say He would tell them later the ‘so much more’ but that the Holy Spirit would guide them and us, into all truth.
Friends there is so much, vital, rich, eternal truth in what Jesus said, as recorded in the gospels, and yet He said in essence, ‘I’m teaching you the essentials, but as you are able to bear additional truths, the Holy Spirit will be your teacher.”
He didn’t say, I have taught you everything you ever need to know about everything. He could have said that, but He didn’t.
I confess I am very cautious about looking anywhere besides the Bible for God’s truths. Many have stumbled and fallen away by seeking God outside of the biblical revelation of Himself which He has clearly provided.
My friends, the biblical truth is the essential truth, the foundation of all truth which Jesus has provided in the Bible. Jesus then said the Spirit of Truth will reveal to you (the remainder of) All Truth! (v13)
Father help us to discern Your Truth from the deception of the world. Help us to measure all claims of truth against the Truth of Your Word, against The Truth, Jesus Himself.
Your Word is True
