Seeking approval

Today’s Encouragement is Galatians 1:10 “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

Seeking approval –

Be who you are- don’t hide it by copying someone else. God made you and you are unique.  Today we all too often strive to be politically correct, carbon-friendly, fit in with this cause, this group, this way of thinking, acting, dressing or whatever.  Worse than all is adopting the attitude of others.

However, in ‘just being yourself’ be careful of using the excuse, ‘Well that’s just who I am, I’m just the way God made me” to coverup a behavior which is inconsistent with the attitude of grace, mercy, and love of Jesus.  This doesn’t honor God nor help you in any way.

My friend the only person who is worthy of imitation is Jesus!  And we ain’t gonna be able to do that very well… but we can try! Our efforts must be genuine, faking it isn’t going to help us nor the cause of Christ… but a sincere, humble, honest effort to imitate the attitude, the perspective, the love and grace and mercy of Jesus Christ is seeking the approval of our Father.  And as we strive to please God in this way, Jesus himself makes up for our shortfall, he says “My Grace is sufficient” (2 Cor 12:9).

Father we seek your approval, not in perfection, but in direction… help us desire to live as Christ did while on this earth, in mercy, grace and love for others.  Help us to Love You and love others as ourselves.  We ask in Jesus’ Name.

The cause of Christ
