Today’s Encouragement is 1 John 1:8-9 NLT If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. [9] But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
He is faithful and just –
Confession of our sin is an important aspect of forgiveness. I’m not talking about going to ‘Confession’ in order to be forgiven as some believe. But rather true confession is an honest self-assessment, admitting to our God that we have sinned, recognizing it ourselves as sin, realizing how our sin is destructive, harmful to us and or others, how it separates us from God, how it is ‘living in darkness’. Acknowledging this, we admit to God that we are sinful and need His grace and forgiveness, admitting that we don’t deserve His mercy (does anyone ever truly deserve God’s grace and mercy?)
This is a proper approach to confession, looking honestly at our lives and recognizing the sin, admitting that sin, and then most importantly, accepting God’s perfect and complete forgiveness of that sin.
And then my friend!!! He is faithful and just to forgive and to cleanse us… from ALL wickedness!
If you want assurance of His forgiveness, then honestly admit, and confess the sin to Him! (Jesus is our only mediator!) He WILL forgive and cleanse!
