Today’s Encouragement is 1 Peter 1:24-25 NLT As the Scriptures say, “People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. [25] But the word of the Lord remains forever.” And that word is the Good News that was preached to you.
Remains Forever-
Ever think about how quickly life changes on us? One day we’re doing fine, things are good, then bang! Finances are stretched, our health is attacked, friends or loved ones die, an unknown or unexpected catastrophe occurs and our ‘world is rocked’! Our peace, security, and contentment are ‘stolen’ in a second.
Friends, we know intellectually that ‘nothing lasts forever’. This life ends for all of us, our friends and family, our pets, our jobs, will all end; our friends move on, we may lose our pastor, or our best friend over a silly argument. The list is infinite.
Yet, One thing remains my friend… only One thing.
The word of the Lord remains forever.
Wouldn’t it make sense to shift our focus our attention, our affections, from time to time, even regularly, toward the one thing that matters, the one thing which remains?
All that we are doing today, striving towards, every goal or achievement every dollar earned, or goal accomplished… will wither and fade.
Lord help us to absorb the depth of this truth, that everything, except Your Truth, will fade away. You alone remain! Help us to learn to live in this world with this truth foremost in our minds and hearts.
