Today’s Encouragement is Daniel 9:18 NLT “O my God, lean down and listen to me. Open your eyes and see our despair. See how your city-the city that bears your name-lies in ruins. We make this plea, not because we deserve help, but because of your mercy.”
Because of Your mercy –
In the preceding verses, Daniel prayed passionately. He confesses the sins of his nation, his people, humbling himself as well, pleading with God for His miraculous help, and intervention into the desperate situation he and his nation were facing.
As he concludes this passionate prayer, he clarifies, ‘Lord we know we do not deserve Your help’… no one my friends, deserves the Love, Mercy or Grace of God! There is no one righteous! (Romans 3:10)
But You Lord; You ARE merciful! Mercy is shown to the guilty my friends. We are guilty of neglecting our relationship with God, and of many serious and shameful sins. (If you disagree, please ask God to reveal His truth to you.)
God is Love, He is full of Mercy, Grace, and Compassion for His beloved children! We ask Him for His blessings because He is full of mercy! Mercy which no one can deserve!
it is wise, my friends, to face, starkly, the truth of our own sinful nature… because we then recognize how desperately we need a Savior!
Father God, have mercy on us, and our nation. We recognize that we don’t deserve help, but we also recognize that You alone are merciful. We trust You.
