Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 139:1-6 NLT “ O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. [2] You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. [3] You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. [4] You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD. [5] You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. [6] Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!”
Too wonderful for me –
This last line, an expression of awe, amazement, humbling, and being overwhelmed by the vastness of God’s ability to know us so intimately and to demonstrate such great concern for us… is our proper response to Him.
My friends we err greatly when we try to impose our own limited understanding of human characteristics upon our Father God. When we read or hear that God knows us, cares for us and loves us… please don’t think that is the same as you or I knowing, caring, for, and loving another person. That’s like comparing one grain of sand to the Saharan desert… there is a similarity… but comparison is totally inadequate.
The writer of this psalm expressed “Awe” so well with these few words. Have you ever come to such a moment? A moment when you recognize and appreciate the incredible power majesty, greatness of our Father?
Also notice my friends that the first 5 verses are describing God’s incredible attention and concern and devotion for us! He has set the universe in motion, created life which begets life, and yet He focuses His attention… on His deeply loved children.
We witness His glory in majestic mountains, beautiful sunsets, thunderstorms, and the miracle of life in a newborn infant. Is it possible my friends, that His joy, His happiness, His focus is … you and me?
Open our spiritual eyes Lord, help us recognize Your immeasurable Love for us.
I stand in awe of You

I love on my dog. I tell her what a good (old) girl she is. I whisper sweet nothings in her furry ears. Your Encouragement tells me God does the same to me! Your words remind me of His Words! He loves ME!
