Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 37:1-2 Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! [2] For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb.
Fret not –
Friends we waste our lives, our minds and hearts, the opportunities that we have to love God and to love His people… when we fret.
Worry, fear, anger, and resentment – all wrapped up in fretting – steals our joy, our peace, and our hope.
We can see this most clearly in those who appear to ‘get wrapped up’ in things all the time. They seem to live for crises, conflicts, or fights of one type or another. Whether it’s a political argument on social media or a fight with a neighbor over their unruly dog… we all tend to get immersed in a battle and go from one conflict to the next.
We also see ourselves in these wars, as ‘in the right’ and everyone else is our enemy, they are the evildoers!
The truth is no one is righteous, not one! (Romans 3:10) we all have flaws and faults and hurt others from time to time intentionally or not. We all need Grace because we all sin.
However, we can choose to forgive those who try to, or who succeed in harming you. They will fade like the grass when we forgive. When we do not forgive and don’t forget, the harm they have done or tried to do, continues, and may even grow… fed by our fretting, bitterness, and unforgiveness.
Choose Peace. Look to God for His forgiveness and protection. In this world you will have trouble (John 16:33) but He has overcome this world! Fret not!
Do I trust You
