Today’s Encouragement is Ezekiel 36:22 “Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am about to act, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations to which you came.’”
My Holy Name –
My first grandson was learning to walk, holding onto the coffee table, surrounded by parents, grandparents, and great grandparents, all keenly watching, applauding, and praising his every step. My wise Dad, his great grandfather said, “Is it any wonder that we grow up thinking that the world revolves around us?”
Our perspective is usually focused on ourselves, isn’t it? That is, we think God is moving and acting primarily based on what we want, or need, or pray for… as if the world, even God Himself, revolves around us.
Well, my friends it doesn’t! God isn’t waiting to hear from us what we need Him to do for us today, what OUR will is. Remember that Jesus Himself prayed, ‘nevertheless, not my will but Yours be done!’
God acts, creates, directs the universe as well as our individual lives, (He is unlimited!) and He does so in His way, according to His will, because He is the I AM! And because He knows (He created) the beginning and the end; He acts for the sake of His Holy Name!
Father God may our eyes and spirits be opened to the magnificence of Your great Name. You are Creator, Ruler, Judge, and our loving Father. Help us recognize Your supreme sovereignty over all things, including our lives as Your beloved children.
Your Great Name
