Be Gracious

Today’s Encouragement is Colossians 4:6 NLT Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.

Be gracious –

How we speak to one another has become a hot topic in the last few years, but it’s always been important!

Jesus was the best example of how we are to speak to each other, of course.  He was gentle and wise and kind yet asked difficult and challenging questions of folks. Only with the self-righteous religious leaders did he speak harshly.

Consider how he spoke to the woman caught in adultery, the woman at the well, the thief on the cross beside him, Peter when they ate breakfast together by the lake… He was always gentle but always speaking directly to the heart….

Too often we are either not speaking to others about matters of the heart, their faith, their spiritual nature, or we speak brashly, to or of others, justifying our rudeness with, “That’s just the way I am, I speak my mind and if they don’t like it, it’s their problem.”

Friends, we are the ambassadors of Christ to this world! To His people, as well as to all those whom He desires to become His people!  And we are called, advised, cautioned to speak graciously with each other.

Father God open our hearts to hear how we speak to others, help us to be gracious and wise in our speech, and so to represent Christ well as His ambassadors.

Let the words
